This Project is centered around how labels can tweak, warp or further improve an audience’s perception of an object that it’s attached to. Labeling is a quick, immediate navigational and organizational tool used to get the audience to reach the desired frame of mind about that object. Labeling is a tool that humans use to resolve the impossible complexity of the environments we grapple to perceive. The words we use to describe what we see aren’t just idle placeholders but they hold great gravity to what we perceive.
The industrial label maker is the tool utilised to create the physical labels. Its instant and on the spot for making visual labeling as to reflect in real life something could be labeled.
This outcome is driven by ideas above all. Mass-produced everyday objects are taken out of their usual context and shone a spotlight upon more pressing subject matter relating to the object. As for example labeling a Banana “RACIST” guides the audience to the desired frame of mind towards the banana being a tool of racism.
That the banana on its own is simply a banana but as soon you label the banana “RACIST” the banana is now seen as a horrible tool for racism.
